FIFA players will know RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner as “Werner the Burner’, but there is much more to his game than pace alone. The German international has been prolific in front of goal, and is establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s top young forwards.
It is little surprise then that Spanish super club Real Madrid have registered an interest in the 21-year old. According to Spanish publication Marca, Los Blancos are in need of a striker in January, and Werner is the man they have turn their attentions to.
The young forward finished the last Bundesliga campaign with 21 goals and five assists, and has continued that form into this season, grabbing seven goals and two assists in 11 appearances so far. His goal scoring prowess is remarkable for someone so young, and a move to Real Madrid could accelerate his career.
With a World Cup coming up next summer, Werner will want to impress Germany coach Joachim Lowe in order to make it into the squad. Playing for arguably the biggest team on the planet is one surefire way to do that, and the youngster would doubtless benefit from playing in front of the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
